This morning, the import manganese mine market caused more imported manganese miners to be closed due to a South African port document (see attachment for details). The document pointed out that port Elizabeth (South Africa's largest manganese mine export port) has been suspended since June 11, South Africa time, after Transnet employees were confirmed to be positive for COVID-19.
According to SMM, many domestic traders can not confirm the authenticity of the document, whether it is true or not, the price is suspended; according to the verification of three manganese mining enterprises at home and abroad, the authenticity of the blockade file is confirmed, but the blockade is limited for individual transport enterprises, and the closure time is expected to be within 3 days, the impact of the actual manganese supply is limited. In the short term, there is still a need to pay attention to whether the government will impose a higher level of regional blockade due to regional infection outbreaks. (), SMM believes that next week's blockade decision by the South African government will change the pace of manganese ore supply to China.
At present, the epidemic in South Africa continues to climb beyond the expectations of the South African government, but the South African government still forecasts the high point of the epidemic in South Africa in September, and relevant professionals have great doubts about the setting and positive determination of the government epidemiological prediction model. As a result, the South African government announced on June 11th that the cabinet had received the latest report from the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) at its regular meeting on Wednesday. NCCC made recommendations to increase the risk of country locking and adjust the alarm level from level 3 to level 4 or even level 5. (related information: "Link 1;" Link 2)
