SMM6 March 8: recently, Indonesian Minister of Maritime and Investment Coordination Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed the reason why the government stopped the export of nickel, the main reason for the value-added downstream, nickel must first be made into value-added products, and then exported.

For the nickel industry, don't let this generation export raw materials, says Luhut. We hope to export it to batteries, other uses and stainless steel. As the downstream processing of nickel goods will give Indonesia good jobs and a lot of jobs, then taxes will also increase.

Indonesia must enter the global supply chain, he said, not become a country that only becomes a market for foreign products. The added value of nickel ore is very large, if only nickel ore is used as stainless steel plate, its added value can be increased by 10 times. At the same time, with the increase of added value, tax revenue and national tax revenue will increase.

Luhut also talked about the requirements for investors to enter Indonesia, saying that all investment must be made in environmental projects and must also be able to educate local workers. He stressed that all investments must have the principle of technology transfer.
