SHANGHAI, Jun 8 (SMM) – China imported 436,000 mt of unwrought copper and copper products in May, down 5.51% from a month ago due to the impact of the coronavirus on the global manufacturing industry, showed data from China customs released Sunday.
On a yearly basis, however, the imports of unwrought copper and copper products in May were 21% higher, with the imports in the first five months of the year 12.4% higher, standing at 2.18 million mt.
China’s imports of unwrought copper and copper products came in at around 461,000 mt in April, up 4.3% from March.
Separately, China imported 9.26 million mt of copper ore and concentrate in January-May, up 2.2% from the same period last year.
