SMM May 18: Shanghai Zinc mainstream traded at 16760 Mel 16780 yuan / ton, Shuangyan and Chihong at 16770 Mel 16800 yuan / ton; Zinc Shuangyan and Chihong quoted a price of 130 Mel 160 yuan / ton for June; Shuangyan and Chihong quoted a liter water of 150,170 yuan / ton in June; and Shuangyan and Chihong traded 16680Met 16700 yuan / ton.

The mainstream transaction of zinc in Shanghai was 16760 Mel 16780 yuan / ton, Shuangyan and Chihong 16800 yuan / ton, Shuangyan and Chihong quoted a price of 160 yuan / ton in June, Shuangyan and Chihong quoted a price of 150 RMB170 / ton in June, and Shuangyan and Chihong traded 16680 RMB16700 / ton in June. The Shanghai Zinc 2006 contract fluctuated within a narrow range, and the morning market closed at 16670 yuan / ton. Zinc prices are relatively high, smelters ship goods normally, early market traders mainly receive goods, spot quotations go up, the morning market quotes rise to about 130 yuan / ton, and then gradually rise to about 150 yuan / ton, and the average price remains active. There are few quotations when the average price goes down during the day. Into the second trading session, the market domestic quotation again adjusted to rise water 160 yuan / ton, but the market shipping will improve, coupled with zinc prices rebounded downstream there are wait-and-see, transaction slightly weaker, another import quoted rising water 100lb 120 yuan / ton, import squeeze, Shuangyan, Huize transaction is not smooth, the offer than the early market only fine-tuned 20 yuan / ton to rise water 170 yuan / ton, the overall transaction within the day is OK.

【SMM Flash News】Benton Acquires Land Near Dominion and Advances Lead-Zinc VMS Exploration

Benton Resources announced on October 5, 2026 that it had signed an agreement with Quest Inc. to acquire six mineral claim units contiguous with its Dominion project in Newfoundland. Subject to exchange approval, Benton will pay C$20,000 in cash and issue 400,000 shares. The vendors will retain a 2.5% net smelter return royalty, with Benton holding the right to buy back 1.5% for C$1.5 million. A C$6,000 annual payment will begin 48 months after signing. 【Flash | Semtech Adds Cleanroom Space as InP Photonics Demand Ramps】

Semtech said in its Aug. 25 earnings presentation that its data-center photonics portfolio spans gain chips, high-power CW lasers, SOAs and high-speed photodiodes, while it has secured FY2027 equipment deliveries and acquired additional cleanroom space. Semtech acquired HieFo in March, adding US-based InP gain-chip and DFB-laser manufacturing. Q2 FY2027 data-center sales reached $100 million, up 39% QoQ and 91% YoY; Q3 sales are targeted to rise 45% QoQ and 160% YoY. SMM believes the buildout supports medium-term demand for InP and high-purity indium, although no nameplate capacity or indium consumption was disclosed.

【SMM Flash News】Renforth Reports 10.9 Metres Grading 0.544% Zinc at Victoria

Renforth reported on October 5 that hole SUR-26-60 at its Victoria polymetallic project in Québec intersected 10.9 metres grading 0.544% zinc, 0.079% copper and 0.51 g/t silver from a downhole depth of 17.1 metres. The three-hole, 1,011-metre programme was completed in July to test down-dip continuity beneath the existing resource pit shell.
