[quarterly report on Mines] Glencore: cut nickel production guidance for the whole year of 2020 to 122kt by 2 per cent

SMM4, March 30: today, Glencore released its first quarter 2020 results, showing that its operations at the LaGlen nickel mine in Quebec, Canada, ceased in late March. It is now restarted and is in progress. Affect output for less than a month. The Koniobo nickel project in New Caledonia extended the planned maintenance downtime of one production line (two) and delayed the restart time by approximately two months.

Production guidelines for the whole of 2020:

Nickel: 122kt of its own nickel production guidance, down 3kt (- 2 per cent) from the previously announced quota production guidance, mainly reflecting the mandatory temporary suspension of production in Raglan (Quebec).

Production situation:

Production of own nickel was 28200 tons, an increase of 1100 tons (+ 4 per cent) over the first quarter of 2019, reflecting the impact of interruptions in the INO and Koniambo base periods and MurrinMurrin maintenance during the current period.

The production of (INO):-owned nickel in the nickel integrated operation was 14600 tons, an increase of 1200 tons (+ 9 per cent) over the first quarter of 2019, reflecting the impact of severe weather on transport and logistics during the benchmark period. Production was broadly consistent with the more comparable fourth quarter of 2019.

Murrin Murrin: 's own nickel production was 7600 tons, a decrease of 1100 tons (- 13 per cent) from the first quarter of 2019, mainly reflecting the maintenance shutdown in February.

Koniambo: nickel production was 6000 tons, an increase of 1000 tons (+ 20 per cent) over the first quarter of 2019, reflecting various disturbances during the base period.
