SMM China lead ingot inventory across five major markets totalled 99,800 mt as of Friday April 8, up 400 mt from last Friday April 1 and 500 mt from Wednesday April 6.

The total inventory of HRC across social warehouses and steel makers in China stood at 3.58 million mt as of April 7, up 28,300 mt or 0.8% on the week, a decrease of 0.39% on the year.

China’s rare earth mining and smelting/separation quotas stood at 168,000 mt and 162,000 mt respectively in 2021, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

SMM data showed that HRC stocks across social warehouses and steel makers rose 119,800 mt or 3.3% on the week, but down 13.63% than a year ago, to 3.75 million mt as of October 8.

Inventories of rebar across Chinese steelmakers and social warehouses stood at 8.75 million mt as of October 8, up 56,100 mt or 0.6% from a week ago. Stocks are down 2.58 mt or 22.8% from a year earlier.

The profits of the mining and raw material manufacturing industry increased by 1.84-fold and 39.6% year-on-year, respectively, in August, which were well above the average level of industries above designated size, said Zhu Hong, a senior statistician at the Department of Industry of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

SMM data showed that China's social inventories of aluminium across eight consumption areas rose 23,000 mt on the week to 789,000 mt as of September 23.
