[SMM global epidemic data tracking] nearly 2 million cases have been confirmed worldwide, and Suifenhe City has become a hardest hit area outside China.

On April 14, about 59000 new cases were confirmed worldwide. As of 18:00 on 15 April, the cumulative number of confirmed cases worldwide had reached about 2 million. A spokesman for the World Health Organization said at a press conference on the 14th that the new crown epidemic has not yet reached its peak.

The number of confirmed cases in the United States has exceeded 600000, and the new trend continues to decline. In Europe, the overall number of new confirmed cases in key countries has remained at the recent average. In Asia, the number of new cases in Turkey remained high in a single day, with a total of 65111 confirmed cases as of 18:00 on 15 April.

The development of the epidemic in India is worrisome. On March 24, the total number of confirmed cases in India was 536. Today, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in India has reached 11555, and the number of confirmed cases in 22 days has surged more than 20 times. Out of concern about the local epidemic, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced yesterday (April 14) that the national lock-up period would be extended by nearly three weeks to May 3.

On the other hand, the epidemic situation in Russia has also deteriorated sharply, with more than 3000 new cases in a single day, and as of 18:00 today, a total of 24490 cases have been confirmed. More worryingly, Russian imports are now putting great pressure on domestic efforts to prevent imported cases from abroad.

According to data from the Heilongjiang Provincial Health and Health Commission, a total of 2497 people have entered the Suifenhe Port since the state centralized isolation of returnees after entering the country on March 21. As of 24:00 on 13 April, a total of 322 confirmed cases of imported cases and 38 cases of asymptomatic infection had been reported at Suifenhe Port, the largest number of imported cases from outside the country. With the continuous increase in imported cases from outside the region, more than 1500 people have been centrally quarantined, and all the hotels used for centralized isolation in Suifenhe are fully staffed and are beginning some of the transfer work.

Since April 8, all residential areas in Suifenhe City have implemented strict closed management. At the same time, as of today, 289 medical personnel and a large number of medical materials have been assisted in Suifenhe City. Heilongjiang is undergoing a severe "epidemic prevention examination."

Australia Reviews Anti-Dumping Duties on Galvanized Steel from India, Malaysia, Vietnam Amid Zinc Concerns
On September 9, 2026, Australia initiated its second sunset review of anti-dumping measures on galvanized steel sheet from India, Malaysia and Vietnam, and separately launched a sunset review of countervailing measures on imports from India. The review covers July 2025-June 2026, with the final report expected by February 11, 2027. As galvanized steel is the largest end-use sector for zinc, the measures directly affect export costs and competitiveness, potentially impacting Australia’s domestic zinc demand and supply chain. Maintaining the duties would provide some protection for domestic steel and coating capacity, while termination could increase low-priced imports and affect regional zinc consumption. The final outcome remains subject to the authorities’ determination.
