In December 2019, China imported 35806 tons of cobalt hydrometallurgical intermediates, up 25 per cent from a month earlier and 81 per cent from a year earlier. From January to December 2019, the cumulative import of cobalt hydrometallurgical intermediates in China was 300249 tons, an increase of 33 per cent over the same period last year.

Of these, cobalt hydrometallurgical intermediates imported 35003 tons from Congolese gold, an increase of 25 per cent over the previous month and 78 per cent from the same period last year; 754 tons from the Russian Federation, an increase of 288 per cent over the previous month; and 49 tons from New Caledonia, an increase of 63 per cent over the previous month and a decrease of 38 per cent from the same period last year.
