Nickel Asia Corp, the largest nickel miner and exporter in the Philippines, said on Monday that shipments of ore would resume at its two mines in Surigao del Norte province, as the local government had allowed mining operations to resume.

SMM4, March 7: Nickel Asia Corp, the largest nickel miner and exporter in the Philippines, said on Monday that its two mines in Surigao del Norte province would resume ore shipments because the local government had allowed mining operations to resume.

Dante Bravo, chairman of the Philippine Nickel Association, said this would help ease supply concerns. He also predicts that supply-side interference will be less in the coming weeks and is expected to return to normal in June.

In an effort to stop the spread of the epidemic, the company's mining operations in Surigao del Norte province, which houses the largest nickel mine in the Philippines and supplies raw materials to Chinese nickel pig iron producers and smelters, have been suspended since April 1.
