Aluminium billet inventories shrank 4,900 mt on week

Inventories of aluminium billet in China fell for the third consecutive week as of March 26, due to stable deliveries and reduced arrivals.

SHANGHAI, Mar 26 (SMM) – Inventories of aluminium billet in China fell for the third consecutive week as of March 26, due to stable deliveries and reduced arrivals.  


SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across five major consumption areas in China declined 4,900 mt from March 19 to 192,700 mt as of March 26. This followed the stocks shrank 1,700 mt in the week ended March 19.


Inventories in Foshan, Wuxi and Huzhou decreased this week, with the stocks in Foshan falling the most on the week. Meanwhile, greater arrivals lifted inventories in Changzhou and Nanchang.

 

Inventory
Foshan, Guangdong – 79,800 mt
Wuxi, Jiangsu – 53,600 mt
Changzhou, Jiangsu – 27,700 mt
Huzhou, Zhejiang – 22,000 mt
Nanchang, Jiangxi – 9,600 mt

These production cuts were carried out safely and in a controlled manner, and with the operating rate maintained at 60, this improved the conditions for a future restart. It is not yet known when the restart will begin.
