Aluminium billet inventories shrank 1,700 mt on week

Inventories of aluminium billet in China fell for the second consecutive week as of March 19, but the decline slowed from a week ago as the increase in shipments was limited.

SHANGHAI, Mar 19 (SMM) – Inventories of aluminium billet in China fell for the second consecutive week as of March 19, but the decline slowed from a week ago as the increase in shipments was limited. 


SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across five major consumption areas in China shrank 1,700 mt from March 12 to 197,600 mt as of March 19. This followed the stocks declined 19,500 mt in the week ended March 12.


Inventories in Foshan, Wuxi and Nanchang decreased this week, with the stocks in Foshan falling the most on the week. Meanwhile, greater arrivals drove up inventories in Changzhou and Huzhou.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 53,900 mt
Changzhou, Jiangsu – 23,000 mt
Huzhou, Zhejiang – 23,000 mt
Nanchang, Jiangxi – 7,200 mt
