China crude steel production in January-February up 3.1% YoY: CISA

Daily average production of crude steel stood at 2.58 million mt over the past two months, up 1.35% on the year while down 5.54% compared with December 2019. 

SHANGHAI, Mar 18 (SMM) – China produced 155 million mt of crude steel in the first two months of the year, up 3.07% from the same period last year, showed the latest data from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA). 


Daily average production of crude steel stood at 2.58 million mt over the past two months, up 1.35% on the year while down 5.54% compared with December 2019. 


In January-February, China produced 132 million mt of pig iron, 3.06% higher from the same period a year earlier. Daily average production of pig iron rose 1.34% on the year but fell 0.53% from December 2019 to 2.21 million mt.
