[SMM midday review] South China aluminum: active market trading, active middlemen receiving goods

Active market trading, active middlemen, active receiving of goods.

SMM October 16: early afternoon aluminum month shock upward. The transaction price in Guangdong was concentrated in the morning at 13850 yuan / ton, and then futures rose, pushing up the spot price to 13860-13870 yuan / ton, and the price difference between Guangdong and Shanghai was 30 yuan / ton. Today's aluminum prices rose after the current month, shipments were flat compared with yesterday, middlemen received the goods more actively, but the downstream is still mainly on-demand procurement, and there is no sign of substantial stock. On the whole, the spot trading of aluminum ingots in South China is better today.

[SMM Aluminum Express News] Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) resumed operations at Bauxite Hills in mid-March after Tropical Cyclone Narelle caused minimal disruption, with only seven days of lost production and no infrastructure damage. The Port of Skardon reopened on 25 March, with barging gradually returning to full capacity by mid-April. Despite the disruption, 100,000 WMT was shipped in March. Transhipping continues via TSA Skardon Floating Crane and ultramax vessels, while the Ikamba Offshore Floating Terminal is en route back from maintenance in Batam and expected to arrive end-April. Full-year 2026 shipments are forecast at 6.6–7.1 million WMT.

Specifically, the total registered volume in Shanghai was 1,912 mt (down 30 mt), Guangdong 12,358 mt (down 121 mt), Jiangsu 3,602 mt (down 30 mt), Zhejiang 8,471 mt (down 272 mt), Chongqing 3,634 mt (unchanged), and Sichuan 1,206 mt (unchanged).
