SMM, July 30 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-

1. Import of stainless Steel in China

According to customs data, China's stainless steel imports fell by 32 per cent to 47600 tons in June, of which 14 per cent were imported from Indonesia, or 6500 tons. Coil imports increased by 1 per cent to 28100 tons, while pipe imports decreased by 32 per cent to 3900 tons. Imports fell by 44 per cent to 616900 tons from January to June, of which imports of plates and rolls also fell by 34 per cent to 395500 tons.

two。 Export of stainless Steel in China

China's stainless steel exports fell 92 per cent in June from a month earlier, up 21 per cent from a year earlier to 283700 tons, with coil exports down 30 per cent from a year earlier to 182100 tons, mainly due to Indonesian exports to other countries. Stainless steel exports fell 31 per cent from January to June from a year earlier to 1.6985 million tons.

3. China's net export of stainless steel

Net exports of stainless steel increased 23 per cent year-on-year to 236100 tons in June 2019 and 1 per cent year-on-year to 1.0816 million tons from January to June 2019, which was squeezed out by Indonesia to other countries.

4. Import of stainless steel from Indonesia

Indonesia's stainless steel imports fell 74 per cent to 6500 tons in June 2019. From January to June 2019, Indonesian stainless steel imports decreased by 60.96% to 291300 tons (746200 tons of Indonesian stainless steel imports from January to June 2018). The levying of anti-dumping duties on EU, South Korea and Indonesian stainless steel has been expected in the market. In fact, we can see from customs data that since October last year, the quantity of Indonesian stainless steel exports from China has been gradually reduced. This stainless steel anti-dumping incident has not yet had an impact on the production of stainless steel in Indonesia. Under the existing cost advantage, Indonesian stainless steel will still maintain normal production.

[SMM Nickel Flash] Based on nickel ore prices from 25 days ago, smelter profits for high-grade NPI remained high this week. However, from the current raw material side, ore prices from both the Philippines and Indonesia increased, while auxiliary material prices saw a slight pullback, leading to an increase in the cash cost of producing high-grade NPI from spot ore. At the same time, high-grade NPI prices experienced some pullback, making it difficult for smelter profits to see sustained improvement.
