SHANGHAI, Jul 26 (SMM) – The second round of nationwide environmental probes have progressed smoothly and will enter a crucial inspection stage as eight Beijing-led teams have finished stationing, said Liu Youbin, a spokesperson with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), at a briefing on Friday July 26.
Six provinces and cities of Shanghai, Fujian, Hainan, Chongqing, Gansu and Qinghai, as well as two state-owned firms of China Minmetals and China National Chemical (ChemChina), are on the first batch of the list for probes, which will last for about a month.
As of 20:00 CST on Thursday July 25, the eight inspection teams have received 6,459 pieces of complaints about local environmental issues.
