IAI:5 monthly global aluminum production reaches 5.43 million tons

Global aluminium production reached 5.43 million tons in May, unchanged from the same period last year, according to the International Aluminum Association (IAI). China took the lead in production of 3.09 million tons, unchanged from the same period last year.

SMM6, 27 March: the global aluminum production reached 5.43 million tons in May this year, the same as the same period last year, according to the International Aluminum Association (IAI).

China took the lead in production of 3.09 million tons, unchanged from the same period last year.

Asian production excluding China has reached 374000 tons.

The production capacity of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCG) is 464000 tons.

The output of North America reached 326000 tons and that of South America reached 86000 tons.

Production reached 293000 tons in Western Europe and 353000 tons in Eastern and Central Europe.

Africa produces 142000 tons and Oceania 163000 tons.

On the demand side, aluminum demand in the US and Canada is expected to grow 0.4 per cent in the first four months of the year, according to a monthly report by the American Aluminum Association (Aluminum Association).
