SMM6, 10 March: according to foreign media reports, South Africa's state-owned railway freight logistics company Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) will carry out annual maintenance and shutdown of mining and chromium (MMC) production lines from June 4 to 10. This downtime will allow TFR to carry out maintenance work that cannot be carried out under normal professional conditions.

"the shutdown provides an opportunity for major infrastructure maintenance, network update and upgrade interventions to improve network availability and reliability and ensure that trains continue to operate successfully along the MMC Phala Channel," the company said last Wednesday. "

At the same time, the company expects the expected benefits of maintenance work to include improved network reliability and availability, improved train transmission time, increased temporary speed limits, and reduced derailment and hang-up. And reduce signal failures and reduce radio network and transmission line failures.

TFR is working closely with its clients, contractors, colleagues from other operating departments and the South African passenger Railway Authority to ensure the successful implementation of the closure plan.
