Import of stainless Steel in China

According to SMM research, the national stainless steel output in May was 2.496 million tons, an increase of 6.44 percent over the previous month and 25.23 percent over the same period last year. According to the system, the output of the third series was 1.158 million tons in May, 1.25% less than the previous month. According to the investigation of SMM, the output of the third series decreased in April due to the continuous reduction of the output of the third series to the second line in a southern steel mill. The output of the second line increased by 11.21 per cent to 901000 tons compared with the previous month. The output of the fourth line increased by 20.72 to 437000 tons compared with the previous month.

SMM investigated the initial output of 2.4295 million tons in June, 1.15 million tons in the third series, a month-on-month decrease of 0.69 percent. The ring reduction of the output of the third series is mainly due to the planned reduction of 3000 tons 316L in June or the conversion to other departments in a certain annual capacity 1.2 million steel plant in East China, and the superimposed annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons stainless steel plant in Northwest China is planned to start annual maintenance from June to July. It is expected to affect production of 15000 tons in June, of which 5000 tons will be 5000 tons and 10, 000 tons will be 400 series; the annual maintenance of cold rolling equipment will be carried out in July. The output of the second series was reduced by 5.55 per cent to 851000 tons. The fourth series is 428500 tons, 1.95 per cent less than the previous month.

High-Grade NPI Smelter Profits Squeezed as Ore Prices Rise and Sales Prices Dip
[SMM Nickel Flash] Based on nickel ore prices from 25 days ago, smelter profits for high-grade NPI remained high this week. However, from the current raw material side, ore prices from both the Philippines and Indonesia increased, while auxiliary material prices saw a slight pullback, leading to an increase in the cash cost of producing high-grade NPI from spot ore. At the same time, high-grade NPI prices experienced some pullback, making it difficult for smelter profits to see sustained improvement.
