Shanghai-bonded nickel stocks decline in open arbitrage window

The bonded stocks lost 3,000 mt, or 13.1% in the week to Jun 6 and came in at 19,900 mt

SHANGHAI, Jun 6 (SMM) – Inventories of refined nickel in the Shanghai bonded areas lost 3,000 mt, or 13.1% in the week to Thursday June 6 and came in at 19,900 mt, SMM data showed. This came after a rebound of 100 mt in the prior week.

An open arbitrage window drove bonded cargoes and seaborne arrivals to the domestic markets, and lowered inventories in bonded warehouses this week.

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin expanded 13,600 mt from last Friday July 23 to 172,600 mt as of July 30. This was up 6,500 mt from Monday July 26 and registered a new high since October 2014.
