SHANGHAI, May 15 (SMM) – Production of crude steel in China in April grew 12.7% from a year ago to stand at 85.03 million mt, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Wednesday May 15.
Crude steel output in the first four months of the year amounted to 314.96 million mt, standing 10.1% higher than the same period last year.
NBS data also showed that production of molten iron stood at 69.83 million mt in April and 262.65 million mt in January-April, up 10.1% and 9.6% year on year, respectively.
Output of steel products expanded 11.5% from a year earlier to 102.05 million mt in April. This brought output in January-April up 11.1% to 370.86 million mt.
