SMM, Sept. 19: ET NOW, an Indian television channel, quoted sources on Tuesday as saying that the United States is willing to grant conditional exemption from import duties on Indian steel and aluminum products.

In response to the US government's refusal to waive tariffs on its new steel and aluminium, the Indian government decided in June to raise import duties on some US products, including almonds, walnuts and apples, from August 4.

However, India has so far postponed taxes twice.

The situation remains to be further observed.
