SHANGHAI, Dec 26 (SMM) – China's imports of high-carbon ferrochrome declined 38.22% from October to 158,500 mt in November, showed latest data from the China Customs.
These included 74,200 mt of imports from South Afirca, and 65,100 mt from Kazakhstan.
Imports in October grew 36.06% from September, to 256,600 mt. High-carbon ferrochrome is one of several raw materials required to produce stainless steel.
SMM forecasts that expanding domestic capacity will lower China's imports of high-carbon ferrochrome by 9% year on year to 2.4 million mt in 2018.
