Hebei large steelmaker settles silico-manganese purchasing price at 8,950 yuan/mt in Dec tender

SHANGHAI, Dec 4 (SMM) – A large steelmaker in Hebei settled its purchasing price of silico-manganese alloy for its December tender at 8,950 yuan/mt on acceptance this week, SMM learned.

The price, including tax and transport costs, is 150 yuan/mt down from its November’s purchasing price. Procurement volume for the December tender stood at 10,000 mt.

Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
