Imports of unwrought copper, copper semis down 19% in Oct

China imported 423,000 mt of unwrought copper and copper products in Oct, down 18.7% from 521,000 mt in Sep

SHANGHAI, Nov 8 (SMM) – China's imports of unwrought copper and copper products in Ocotober lost 18.7% from September and stood at 423,000 mt, showed data from China Customs.

This grew year-to-date unwrought copper and semis imports to 4.413 million mt, compared to 3.764 million mt in the same period of 2017.

Customs data also showed that exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products came in at 482,000 mt in October, down from 507,000 mt in September.

In the first 10 months of 2018, exports of unwrought aluminium and semis stood at 4.734 million mt, greater than the 3.975 million mt in the same period of 2017.

China is the largest consumer of copper and aluminium in the world.
