Daily production of 21,000 mt of pig iron will be affected in the Yangtze River Delta region before the CIIE in Shanghai on Nov 5-10

SHANGHAI, Oct 30 (SMM) – Daily production of 21,000 mt of pig iron will be affected in the Yangtze River Delta region as steel mills plan to conduct maintenance before the first-ever China International Import Expo (CIIE) is held in Shanghai on November 5-10.

This, coupled with constrained supplies of steel products from the north, is set to buoy steel prices in the Yangtze River Delta region, SMM believes.

At Shagang Group in Jiangsu, the largest private steel enterprise in China, maintenance on three blast furnaces of 480 m³ and two of 580 m³ will affect pig iron production by 8,300 mt. Maintenance is scheduled from November 1-15, SMM learned.

Another large steelmaker in Jiangsu, Yonggang Group will see some 7,700 mt daily output of pig iron being affected by maintenance in November.
