Production cuts shrink social inventories of primary aluminium

Inventories came in at 1.538 million mt as of Thursday Oct 25, down some 45,000 mt from Oct 18

SHANGHAI, Oct 25 (SMM) – Social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, came in at 1.538 million mt as of Thursday October 25, down some 45,000 mt from Thursday October 18, SMM data showed.

High costs and cash flow issues drove some aluminium producers to cut production, and this accounted for the decline in stocks.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 669,000 mt

Shanghai – 348,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 230,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 91,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 96,000 mt

Tianjin – 56,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 24,000 mt

Chongqing – 24,000 mt
