SHANGHAI, Oct 15 (SMM) – While consumption across the motive and automotive battery markets appeared to weaken in the colder weather, there were unfulfilled orders from the high season of September.
Labour constraints and equipment issues kept some battery plants from completing deliveries for backlogged orders, and plants stepped up operations during the National Day holiday. This accounted for the rise in operating rate, which continued to grow after the holiday.
Lead-acid battery producers across China operated at 68.91% over the week ended October 12, up 9.51 percentage points from September 28, SMM data showed.
