Nickel ore imports up 4% in Jul

SHANGHAI, Aug 20 (SMM) – China imported 6.03 million wmt of nickel ore in July, up 4% on the month, showed data from China Customs. 

Among that, volume of materials from the Philippines rose 16% from June to 4.73 million wmt. This included 2.94 million wmt of medium- to high-grade ore, with an average nickel content of 1.6%.

Indonesian imports dropped 25% on the month and stood at 1.14 million wmt in July, as the weather there dragged down the shipment rate. Medium- to high-grade ore accounted for 1.07 million wmt, with an average nickel content of 1.7%.
