Silicon metal traders received more export orders this week than late July

SHANGHAI, Aug 7 (SMM) – Silicon metal traders received more export orders this week than late July as some international consumers needed to stockpile before summer break, SMM learned.

Spot transactions of low-grade materials in small volumes accounted for most of the export orders. Traded prices, however, were little changed from those seen in late July. The #553 silicon without oxygen refining was hear traded at $1,750-1,780/mt fob.

Most silicon metal prices held steady on Tuesday August 7. The #553 silicon without oxygen refining was mostly traded at 11,600-11,700 yuan/mt at Tianjin port.
