Lower nickel price drags high-grade NPI down

A stainless steel plant in east China settled its purchasing price of high-grade NPI in a tender at 20 yuan/mtu lower this week

SHANGHAI, Jul 19 (SMM) – A stainless steel plant in east China settled its purchasing price of high-grade nickel pig iron (NPI) in a tender this week, at 1,080-1,090 yuan/mtu, SMM learned.

The price was 20 yuan/mtu lower than last week as nickel prices fell this week.

As of Thursday July 19, SMM 1# nickel averaged at 109,650 yuan/mt, down 3,550 yuan/mt from last Thursday, SMM assessments showed.

Transportation costs and tax was included in the price and procurement volume stood at 1,000-2,000 mt.
