Report: Qingdao steel mills, coke plants to stop production for a month for SCO summit

SHANGHAI, May 21 (SMM) – To improve air quality for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Qingdao in early June, companies in Qingdao and its nearby areas identified as polluters will have to cut or suspend production from now to around June 20, reported Cailian Press on Monday May 21.

Industries that produce the most pollutants include petrochemicals, steel, chemicals, coke and cementing. Mines, which emit dust pollutants, will also have to halt production.
