Rebar in-plant inventory up after six consecutive weeks of decline

Rebar inventories across mills in China rose 0.5% from a week ago to stand at 2.18 million mt as of Thursday May 17

SHANGHAI, May 17 (SMM) – Rebar inventories across mills in China rose 0.5% from a week ago to stand at 2.18 million mt as of Thursday May 17, SMM data showed. This slight growth marked the first increase after six consecutive weeks of decline.

This also brought the overall rebar inventories that include social inventories and inventories at mills to the smallest week-on-week decline in six weeks of 4.9% and to stand at 8.07 million mt.

Social inventories of rebar shrank 6.8% on the week to come in at 5.89 million mt.
