SHANGHAI, May 10 (SMM) – Steelmakers in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province remained under full suspension as of Thursday May 10 as the province-wide environmental inspection in Jiangsu continues, SMM learned.

While most plants have already completed rectifications, the environmental inspection team continued to postpone the date of final checks, adding to uncertainties when the mills would be able to resume operation.

A local steel mill source told SMM that the company has given its employees one week off from today. Another mill in Xuzhou was said to have given a two-month break.

The month-long inspections are scheduled to end on May 23.
