SHANGHAI, Apr 28 (SMM) – In an emergency response to the heavily-polluted weather in the upcoming days, Tangshan city has initiated measures to cut emissions of the steel industry from April 28 to May 1, SMM learned.

In districts of Lubei, Fengnan, Fengrun, Guzhi, and Kaiping, all sintering machines were required to suspend full production during 16:00 April 28 to 8:00 April 29, and 19:00 April 30 to 12:00 May 1. A 50% of cutback was imposed on the sintering capacity during other periods of time.

In other areas of Tangshan, sintering production should be cut 50% for the entire four-day period.

These restrictions are imposed on top of current, non-heating season rotating production schedules.
