Hot-rolled steel, rebar inventories lower from a year ago

SHANGHAI, Apr 26 (SMM) – Overall hot-rolled inventories as of Thursday April 26, 10 weeks after Chinese New Year, came in at 3.3 million mt, SMM data showed. The total figure, including social inventories and inventories at mills, dipped 2.1% from a week ago and fell 21.7% from a year ago.

Social inventories of hot-rolled steel shrank 2.57% on the week and fell 25.9% on the year, and stood at 2.33 million mt. Inventories across mills declined 0.86% from a week ago and 9.1% from a year ago, and stood at 970,100 mt.

Overall rebar inventories as of Thursday April 26, including social inventories and inventories at mills, came in at 9.66 million mt, down 8.83% from a week ago and down 2.1% from a year ago.

Social inventories of rebar fell 6.89% from a week ago but rose 5% from a year ago, and stood at 7.26 million mt. Inventories across mills stood at 2.40 million mt, down 14.23% from a week ago and 18.8% from a year ago.
