Heavy pollution to affect steel production in Hebei

Steel production in Hebei province will be affected as local plants face production cuts or shutdowns from March 10, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Mar 9 (SMM) –  Steel production in Hebei province will be affected as local plants face production cuts or shutdowns from March 10, SMM learned. The move comes ahead of an upcoming seven-days of heavily polluted weather.

Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and nearby regions will be affected by heavy pollution from March 9 to 15, according to data from China's Ministry of Environmental Protection. 

It is likely that cities including Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Langfang, and Tangshan will participate in the efforts against pollution.
