Energy-intensive industries including steel, cement and aluminium will be put under a strict supervision over energy conservation this year, according to a notice issued by MIIT.

SHANGHAI, Mar 7 (SMM) – Energy-intensive industries including steel, cement and aluminium will be put under a strict supervision over energy conservation this year, according to a notice issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Tuesday March 6.

The focus will be on manufacturers that failed to achieve national energy efficiency standards in 2017.

SMM expects the move to have little impact on the aluminium sector, as most large and medium-sized producers have already met the national standards for green manufacturing. Those substandard smaller-sized companies would be unable to operate due to right costs.
