Aluminium production costs up on higher energy prices

The average production costs of aluminium in China amounted to 14,752 yuan/mt this week, up from 14,724 yuan/mt last week, according to SMM calculations.

SHANGHAI, Feb 9 (SMM) – The average production costs of aluminium in China amounted to 14,752 yuan/mt this week, up from 14,724 yuan/mt last week, according to SMM calculations. The rise was mainly due to higher energy prices.

With lower aluminium prices, this means the average loss for smelters this week has widened some 58% to 684 yuan/mt.
