Snapshot: China's steel output in Feb

Rebar production from 30 major longs mills across China is set to amount to 6.26 million mt in February, while hot-rolled coil output from 30 major flats mills is expected to be 8.27 million mt.

SHANGHAI, Feb 7 (SMM) – Rebar production from 30 major longs steel mills across China is set to amount to 6.26 million mt in February, down from 6.78 million mt in January, according to a SMM survey.

Wire rod output is also expected to be lower, at 2.4 million mt, from 2.63 million mt seen in January.

Of the production in February, 288,000 mt of rebar and 130,000 mt of wire rod are expected to be exported, the survey showed. The volumes were up from 95,000 mt and 60,000 mt, respectively, in January.

For hot-rolled coil, output from 30 major flats steel mills is expected to be 8.27 million mt this month, down by 464,100 mt month on month. Exports would increase by 205,000 to 784,000 mt.
