Prices of zinc spot in three markets (Jan 25)

SHANGHAI, Jan 25 (SMM)-

Guangdong: 0# zinc traded at 26,240-26,300 yuan/mt, with the premium over the Shanghai market at 30 yuan/mt. Discounts from SHFE 1803 are 10-0 yuan/mt. Downstream purchases continue with unchanging demand.

Tianjin: 0# zinc ingot traded at 26,000-26,470 yuan/mt. 0# zinc of the common brand traded around 26,000-26,100 yuan/mt. Discounts from SHFE 1803 are moving towards 280-150 yuan/mt. Prices on the Tianjin market are expected to rise to 26,280 yuan/mt today. Trading volume dips today on weak downstream consumption.

Shanghai: 0# zinc traded at 26,180-26,280 yuan/mt. Premiums, of 0# zinc of the common brand, over SHFE 1802 were around 50-40 yuan/mt. SHFE 1802 traded in a narrow range around 26,270 yuan/mt and finished at 26,290 yuan/mt this morning. Downstream consumption is weak in light of high prices.

Per SMM data, today's SMM 0# zinc ingot average price was reported at RMB 26,620/mt, down RMB 925/mt day-on-day.

Kingfisher Mining has reported lead-zinc-silver drilling results from its Stephens Trig and Allendale prospects near Broken Hill, Australia. The first drilling at Stephens Trig since 2017 comprised five holes totaling 584 m. Results included 5 m at 7.4% combined lead and zinc and 10 g/t silver from 79 m downhole, including 2 m at 17.5% lead-zinc and 24 g/t silver. A separate interval returned 1 m at 198 g/t silver from 111 m. At Allendale, nine holes totaling 802 m returned 9 m at 8.05% lead-zinc and 17.9 g/t silver from 64 m, including 5 m at 10.37% lead-zinc and 23.2 g/t silver. Both prospects remain at the exploration stage.

Master Drilling Secures Twin-Shaft Contract at Somincor Copper-Zinc Mine, Completes First 630 m Pilot Hole
Master Drilling announced a contract with Portuguese copper-zinc miner Boliden Somincor to construct two raisebored shafts, each 630 m deep and 4.5 m in diameter. The contract marks the company’s first project in Portugal. The first 630 m pilot hole has been completed in 24 days using a single pilot bit throughout the operation, supported by the Micon RVDS guidance system. Master Drilling described the achievement as a company record.
