Lightweight autos? Probably to Surge in 2020

SHANGHAI, Nov.10 (SMM)－SMM draws conclusion from recent communication with aluminium products processing plants related to lightweight autos, aluminium used for autos may surge in 2020. Since current new-energy cars have high demand on weight reduction, considering there is little space for battery side for weight reduction, except high-strength steel, compared with magnesium alloy and high-end carbon fiber material, aluminium is of low cost and alloy advantage. But considering new fuel autos or new-energy autos will go into mass production 2~3 years later, we estimate in 2020 aluminium for autos will surge.
