Tianjin Lifted Pollution Alert, Manganese Ore Pick-up Resumes at Port

As per SMM’s latest research on manganese ore traders at port, currently Tianjin Port has resumed its business completely.

SHANGHAI, Nov.8 (SMM)－Recently, Tianjin City Emergency Headquarters for Heavily-polluted Weather released notice, saying as per forecast, on Nov.8^th the air quality in Tianjin will meet condition of lifting the pollution alert. Approved by the municipal government, the emergency action is stopped from 24 pm. On Nov.7^th. As per SMM’s latest research on manganese ore traders at port, currently Tianjin Port has resumed its business completely.

Wider spot discount failed to boost purchases

Spot premiums in Shanghai rose to 70 yuan/mt on February 18 from zero ahead of CNY due to costs during CNY holidays. However, spot premiums turned into wide discounts as of February 25 as SHFE copper prices surged, which stood at around 250 yuan/mt, a decline of nearly 460%. This signified that investors were selling aggressively to generate cash amid cash flow issues. Downstream inquiries were brisk but sellers refrained from lowering their quotes, with spot discounts stabilising between 150-140 yuan/mt.
