Main Producing Areas of Nickel are Required to Limit Production by 50%

Linyi Municipal Environmental Protection Agency of Shandong province released Notice on Instructions of Production Suspension & Limit of Provincial Steel Companies during Heating Season.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 10 (SMM)－Linyi Municipal Environmental Protection Agency of Shandong Province released Notice on Instructions of Production Suspension & Limit of Provincial Steel Companies during Heating Season. The notice says all ironmaking, steelmaking, ferro-nickel, manganese iron, cast-iron and pelletizing projects within the city should be suspended during Nov.15^th 2017 to Mar.15^th 2018. Those companies directly involving nickel including Shandong Lingang Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., Linyi Jinhai Technology Co., Ltd.and Shandong Xinhai Technology Co., Ltd., are required to limit production by 50%.

According to research data of SMM, Shandong Lingang Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd., Linyi Jinhai Technology Co., Ltd. and Shandong Xinhai Technology Co., Ltd. totally produced about 9,500 tonnes’ metallic nickel in September, which accounts for 25% of domestic output of nickel pig iron, 15% of domestic supply of original nickel. If the 4-month production limit policy starting from Nov.15^th is implemented well, it will cause intense short supply of domestic nickel.
