Spot premiums on #0 zinc shrank sharply from 580-750 yuan per tonne early this week to 400-450 yuan per tonne over SHFE October zinc in Tianjin on September 22, SMM reported.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 22 (SMM) – Spot premiums on #0 zinc shrank sharply from 580-750 yuan per tonne early this week to 400-450 yuan per tonne over SHFE October zinc in Tianjin on September 22, SMM reported.

Supply tightness and soft demand narrowed spot premiums in Tianjin, SMM said.

Supply tightness somewhat eased after smelters that used to ship goods to Shanghai delivered goods to Tianjin. Meanwhile, imported KZ zinc also arrived in Tianjin.

But, zinc consumption was dampened due to environmental protection checks, SMM added.
