Spot discounts in east China aluminum market widened on Thursday, attracting some traders to make purchases.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 14 (SMM) – Spot discounts in east China aluminum market widened on Thursday, attracting some traders to make purchases.

China Aluminum Stocks Return to Growth after Brief Drop, SMM Says

However, most traders were wary of buying due to big volatility in SHFE aluminum. Downstream producers restocked as needed.

NBS: China August Aluminum Output Hits Lowest since April 2016

Mainstream traded prices were 16,230-16,270 yuan/tonne in Shanghai, discounts of 150-110 yuan/tonne over SHFE 1709 aluminum, versus 16,230-16,270 yuan/tonne in Wuxi and 16,240-16,250 yuan/tonne in Hangzhou.
