China Stainless Steel Mills Increase Using of Primary Nickel, SMM Learns

According to SMM sources, Delong Nickel Industry has put online two 33,000-KVA furnaces, but another 4 furnaces, which scheduled to come online in Q3 2017, will be delayed for friction with local government. Meanwhile, the friction also disturbed normal operations at the already-commissioned 2 furnaces.

The company originally planned to ship all high-grade NPI produced at the 2 furnaces, which started production this April, back to China for its own production needs, but so far, no goods have been shipped back. All these give no optimistic reason for NPI output outlook in Indonesia.

SMM expects NPI output in Indonesia to reach at around 159,800 tonnes in 2017.
