SHFE 1801 nickel opened at RMB 94,520/mt and closed at RMB 94,000/mt, up RMB 191/mt or 2.07%.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 24 (SMM) – On Thursday, SHFE 1801 nickel opened at RMB 94,520/mt and then kept rising to RMB 94,980/mt. During the afternoon trading, SHFE 1801 nickel dipped to RMB 93,600/mt with LME nickel, and closed at RMB 94,000/mt, up RMB 191/mt or 2.07%. Trading volumes were up 79,900 to 936,000 lots and positions rose 5,030 to 523,000.

SHFE 1801 nickel will fluctuate at current level on Thursday’s night trading.

Nickel Prices Drop: SMM 10-12% High-Grade NPI Down 17.2 Yuan, Indonesia NPI FOB Index Falls 2.06 $/mtu

[SMM Nickel Flash] The SMM average price of 10-12% high-grade NPI fell 17.2 yuan/mtu WoW to 1,035.8 yuan/mtu (ex-factory, tax included), while the Indonesia NPI FOB index average price dropped 2.06 $/mtu WoW to 131.2 $/mtu. At the beginning of the week, futures hit limit-down, and nickel prices fell sharply WoW, driving the emergence of arbitrage supplies sold at low prices, leading to a significant decline in high-grade NPI prices.
