INSG: Global Nickel Supply Deficit Narrows in June

Global refined nickel supply deficit narrowed in June on a monthly basis, according to the International Nickel Study Group (INSG), thanks to rising output at Chinese stainless steel producers.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 23 (SMM) – Global refined nickel supply deficit narrowed in June on a monthly basis, according to the International Nickel Study Group (INSG), thanks to rising output at Chinese stainless steel producers. 

According to INSG, global refined nickel output was 170,200 tonnes in June, and demand was 170,600 tonnes, leaving a deficit of 400 tonnes. In May, supply deficit was revised to 6,700 tonnes from 2,200 tonnes.

Global refined nickel production in June was 5 percent higher than May's revised figure of 162,200 tonnes, as Chinese production rose 15 percent over the month.
