SHANGHAI, Aug. 9 (SMM) – Hebei Province, where China’s steel plants are concentrated, has seen capacity cuts in steel and coal sectors as a battle, Xu Qin, the provincial governor, said recently. 

Pangang Group Xichang Steel Closes One Blast Furnace for Environmental Factor 
The province slashed 44.38 million tonnes of steel smelting capacity and 43.76 million tonnes of iron smelting capacity during 2013-2016, including 16.24 million tonnes of steel smelting capacity and 17.61 million tonnes of iron smelting capacity in 2016.

Bazhou Qianjin Steel to Shut Down Ahead of Schedule, SMM Reports
In H1 2017, Hebei cut 15.72 million tonnes of steel smelting capacity and 14.08 million tonnes of iron smelting capacity, and eliminated all intermediate frequency furnaces.
