China Rare Earth Exports Surge in July, But Export Prices Tumble

China’s rare earth exports grew both on yearly and monthly basis in July, but export prices fell sharply.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 9 (SMM) – China’s rare earth exports grew both on yearly and monthly basis in July, but export prices fell sharply. 

According to China Customs, the country exported 4,353 tonnes of rare earth in July, up 10.3% year-on-year and 1.5% month-on-month, while the average export price was $ 6.4/kg, down 17.7% year-on-year and 21.5% month-on-month.

Rare earth exports totaled 30,563 tonnes during the first seven months of this year, up 12.5% year-on-year.
